Dr. Richard Jacoby is a talented foot and ankle specialist and is the Medical Director of Valley Foot Surgeons. He has won the Phoenix Magazine Top Docs Award 4 separate times over the last 10 years (2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010), showing both his dedication to patient care along with foot and ankle expertise as a leading Scottsdale Podiatrist. When the magazine asked Dr. Jacoby why he picked foot and ankle to specialize in, he joked, “I flunked knees.”

Dr. Jacoby constantly looks for ways to help his patients as a leading national and Phoenix podiatrist. His specialty includes treatment of peripheral neuropathy, which is an extremely difficult diagnosis to handle and often the result of diabetes. Dr. Jacoby is an expert in the Dellon surgical procedure for decompressing peripheral neuropathy. He has performed thousands of the procedures successfully on patients, and none have needed a subsequent amputation.

Said Dr. Jacoby about the Dellon Procedure, “I expected the procedure to lower the amputation rate in diabetics, but what I have experienced is truly remarkable. None have needed an amputation afterwards.”

While a lot of podiatrist Scottsdale doctors predominantly perform “bread and butter” procedures such as bunions and hammertoes, Dr. Jacoby does these but also has continuously looked for ways to elevate the standard of care for foot problems in his patients.

Along with the “bread and butter” procedures, he has additional training and expertise in Class 4 Lasers (with multiple in his offices), Ultrasound treatments, Stem Cell Rich Injections, Skin Grafting, EMG’s and Nerve Conduction Studies, medical and surgical management of peripheral neuropathy, and foot and ankle fracture treatment. This is definitely not the norm for a podiatrist Scottsdale AZ.

“A lot of foot and ankle problems benefit from the comprehensive options we have at the office, such as Lasers for soft tissue injuries, and the EMG machine for seeing how bad nerve compression is. The stem cell rich injections are turning out to be cutting edge and the results are amazing. I’m constantly looking for ways to benefit my patients with better techniques, and it is very gratifying to see them get better. It’s why I do this,” said Jacoby.

His education included a degree in Chemistry from Villanova in 1965, while subsequently receiving his podiatry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in 1969. Since receiving his Arizona State License in 1970, Dr. Jacoby has participated in and taught thousands of hours of Continuing Medical Education over the past few decades.

Dr. Jacoby is a past president of the Arizona Podiatry Association and the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons.

He is currently a member of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, American and Arizona Podiatry Association, and the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons.

Dr. Jacoby currently sees patients out of two Scottsdale offices. One is in the Old Town area, while the other is in North Scottsdale.
